One Proud Mama

 Oh how proud you make me! You do things that surprise me everyday. Yesterday, I brought your bio dad and uncle to the house to hang out and see you do your physical therapy. I told you that you better show off how strong you are to them and boy you didn't disappoint. You had your best session yet. Your pushups (as I call them) were impressive! You then got on the peanut ball and couldn't stop smiling as you did your work. You are so amazing!!!

Today, we tried out your activity chair/stander with the person who ordered it for you. It took a bit to get it to fit you right but you acted like it was nothing once you began to do some weight bearing! You looked so grown up! Once again, a proud mama! I can't wait to see how you progress! You work so hard and I know that you are going to keep getting stronger and stronger! You have got this kiddo! I know that God has great plans for you and I am so excited to be on this journey with you!

Trauma Response

 Last night we had a night nurse. I had to try and sleep in a different room from you and I find that it is so hard to do. While I have full trust in the night nurse that I chose for you, I find myself struggling to fall asleep and struggling to stay awake the next day. Last night was no exception. I was laying in bed and my brain wouldn't slow down enough for me to fall asleep. All I could think about was the things that I wanted to write. I even texted my therapist to suggest a collaboration because I feel that I want to share my story with the world. If my story could help one person, it would be worth it. Fast Forward

 So I have definitely not been good about keeping up with this. I had hoped to be a lot better at this than I have been, that is for sure. So many things have happened since my last post. We are still battling kidney stones but are getting that fixed this coming Tuesday so an end is in sight. We now have guardianship of you buddy and that makes me so happy. I can now truly share you with the world and call you mine. Although the adoption can't happen until you have lived with us a fully year, we are one step closer. Your smile warms my heart!  You continue to amaze me every day. Since this picture was taken, which wasn't very long ago at all, you have been able to come off of your oxygen! You are able to maintain a good oxygen level on room air!!! We only have been using the oxygen at night with your BiPap. This is HUGE buddy! The sky is the limit for you my man. The Day's of Elijah

The time leading up to getting you, I spent a little time journaling my thoughts. I was so excited to meet you. My very first entry said talked about my experience learning who you were and that you would be coming to us. I talked about having told our parents you were coming and the worry that people had for us because of your complicated diagnoses and the expected outcome you were supposed to have. First of all, let me say that your life expectancy was WRONG!! You are thriving my boy! You are out riding bikes, bowling, and living your best life. I am so proud to call you mine!
