Leaps and Bounds

 You impress me every single day! The other day we went to see your pulmonologist and the appointment went amazing! It's crazy to think that when you came to us in December, you were on hospice. Now, not only is hospice gone but everyone is so impressed with your progress. Pulmonology was so impressed that they agreed to start room air trials to see if we can get you off the oxygen altogether, as well as reach out to the palliative doctor to share her assessment of you. Yesterday during physical therapy, you impressed both of us during your "push-ups". You were showing off in full extension with your head turned to the right, and you decided to take it one step further and do it one handed! You are so amazing!!! 

We have so much set up for you. I have you on the waiting list for the Trexo so that we can get you up and walking for the first time in your life! We are working on getting you into water therapy of some kind, even if I have to do it myself. The basement is almost ready for you and its going to be such a blessing! The stroller has allowed us to spend more time outside together in a more comfortable way. We have made contacts that want to help us get the financial help to get the equipment that we want for you that insurance wont help with because they do not feel that it is "necessary". We want to give you everything we possibly can. You started massage therapy and you have your second appointment tomorrow. The therapist is phenomenal and I can't wait to get to know her more. You were just matched with a runner from Chicago that is so excited to be running for you. You and I are officially signed up to do a virtual 10K together that is for cerebral palsy awareness. We have tickets to take your bio dad to the baseball game with us the day before your big surgery. We have an appointment Saturday to have you put on medical THC, which has shown to make you more vocal, you even laughed! Your laugh is amazing and infections. I love you so much! Keep working hard bud and I will work hard for you so that together we can grow leaps and bounds! You truly are my favorite super hero!

Its in the Past, or is it?

 Today brought up a lot of memories that I don't enjoy reliving. You see kiddo, you are our second foster placement. Our first placement put us through a lot and I have a lot of wounds because of it. While my wounds can't be seen on the outside, they are very real on the inside. We were so excited to be parents for the first time and did not know how hard the next 6 months were going to be. We were licensed through a Christian agency that had a good reputation and they claimed to provide a large amount of support. With our particular placement, we were instructed to stay in close contact with two specific people within the agency because the case was so high profile. Along the way, we begged for help with the behaviors that were occurring in our home but kept receiving the same advice, "keep doing what you're doing". We wanted more help. Superheroes... In Training

 Last night I had a very hard time falling asleep. I tossed and turned and all I could think about was more that I wanted to say. I jotted them down in a note on my phone and finally was able to go to sleep. As I type this, you are in bed with your shaky vest on and watching TV. We got a bit of a later start because I fell back asleep. I woke up at 5 to turn you and you were wide awake. I tried to stay awake with you but it just didn't last.  Sometimes I find myself getting very frustrated with my husband. You see kiddo, we see the world very differently, especially when it comes to taking care of you. Most of the time, I love doing it all on my own because it makes me feel important and strong!
